Workshop Overview - Presentation Skills

“All the great speakers were once bad speakers.” Mark Barnes

Making a Powerful Presentation calls for a confidence which comes from the certainty of having created great content and knowing that you have what it takes to get the message across, with impact and to time.

The workshop is built on a mix of instruction, DVD recording and playback and personalised one-to-one coaching. It invites participants to critically examine their existing method of preparation and provides them with a fail-safe alternative. It looks at the importance of body language, voice tone and projection, establishing rapport with an audience and the use of visual aids.

Content might include:

  • Introduction to the four cornerstones of presenting and to the ‘X-Ray’ Sheet – a means to prioritise component parts of a presentation and to edit ‘on-the-hoof’ – ensuring it contains the right content and neither over nor under runs it’s allotted time
  • The power of non-verbal communication
  • Dealing with nerves and portraying a positive image
  • Engaging with the audience
  • Using appropriate language
  • Making a presentation memorable
  • Ways to highlight and lift attention
  • Using visuals and audio visual equipment
  • Handling questions and keeping control
  • Individual skills practice
  • 1:1 coaching

This workshop is highly interactive and aims to be very supportive. All participants make two formal and a number of informal presentations and receive focussed one-to-one coaching.

This workshop can be supported by our publication Stand & Deliver or with bespoke workshop materials.
